High Five for Friday!

Another awesome week!! There were features, births, my first ever mentoring session, an elopement and an awesome meeting with a couple I totally adored last night! Next week is shaping up to be awesome as well!! I don’t have much to say today – the internet was pretty lame this week, which sometimes can be a good thing and also means I clicked stumble upon a bunch – so I am going to get right to it!

Last night, I had S’mores beer from DuClaw. And now I think everyone should go try S’Mores beer. It was massively delicious. Go find it.

I have no idea what made me stumble upon this but how cool are these recycled and repurposed Patron bottles??

I attempted some healthier eating this week – minus S’Mores beer and pizza one night – but this list of outrageous fast foods you can’t find in America made me sometimes hungry and sometimes sad.

Yay!! I love being Featured!!

This has been a pretty spectacular few weeks. I have been featured a bunch and I sorta adore seeing my work and my couple’s craftiness and great ideas get the attention they deserve up on some fabulous wedding blogs. I am really bad at submitting photos to blogs, admittedly. I forget it’s an important aspect of running a business sometimes and until this year, I hadn’t really thought about it all that much. But I am vowing to try harder to get my name out there more and so far so good this year! Please stop by and check out these spectacular blogs!!

Jenna & Paul

I know I say this every time, but I really love Jenna and Paul. I say it every time because it is so true and I am lucky enough that as much as they pick me to shoot their wedding, I pick them back too. Jenna and Paul were no exception. Jenna and Paul met in 2004 at the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department. Jenna had just started there hoping to become an EMT and Paul had been there for 4 years serving as Lieutenant and waiting for someone like Jenna to come along. After two years of friendship – country concerts, long nights at the fire house together, hanging out with friends – they made it official and have been inseparable ever since. In 2007 Paul proposed to Jenna with her family surrounding them on the beach in Kitty Hawk, NC. Now, after creating a family, completing nursing school, and growing together as a couple even more, they tied the knot. And while it rained everywhere else in the state of Maryland, these two were granted the absolute perfect day to start their next life journey together.

In love with these ladies.

For serious, I am in love with this wide awake baby. I have always adored Elaine and Tom and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph them all these years after their wedding. I love watching families, especially this one, expand and it is truly a priceless time in their lives. I’m so happy I could spend a bit of time making a few memories of the sweetest days of newborn life.

Daisy is coming around – may be ok with sharing the house with Theodore…not confirmed yet.

Well this week has been nothing short of amazing. Despite the nasty rainy days I have managed to photograph two sessions – an engagement session and a super fun session with the ladies at Maryland Wedding Makeup, I saw American Idiot at the Hippodrome, had a killer workout with my trainer (my abs are still hurting), I have an awesome newborn session today. And on top of all that I am photographing the wedding of an NFL player and his super gorgeous fiance this coming July. She hadn’t even met me yet, we had only chatted on the phone and she had already tweeted about me.

Then she comes to the studio and we totally hit it off – she loved my work which is the part I love the best. She was a total sweetheart and I just cannot wait until the big day.

And then I go home, totally on cloud 9 thinking about how surreal this all is and this happens, I better figure out twitter real fast:

So, needless to say, this has been a super happy week. More on that in a few weeks when I do their engagement session

Matt & Lynn – Baltimore E Session

This couple has such a cool story and it all starts at Bucknell just about maybe 20 years before the two of these lovebirds even attended school there. It started with their parents. Matt’s mom and dad and Lynn’s mom and dad – all who attended Bucknell themselves. It was their master plan began long ago while all four were attending Bucknell University that they would each have kids, grow up, go to Bucknell and realize that they were meant for each other. The parental units all settled in Baltimore and continued their friendship there after college. Lynn and Matt first met almost 25 years ago as infants. Lynn was always fascinated and in awe of Matt during those first years as he was more “advanced” being 6 months older than she is. Until the age of 5, the two spent lots of time together between many play dates and birthday parties. But both families got busy with life and Lynn and Matt went on separate paths through school until after graduating high school. The families reunited that summer upon realizing that both Lynn and Matt would be attending Bucknell starting that fall. The two hit it off and continued talking through email for the rest of the summer. Once they got to Bucknell, they gave into the “master plan” and started dating right away.

Six years later it was decided – enough already! Matt proposed to Lynn and a second generation Bucknell marriage was set for July 13, 2013. Eeek!! I love good stories!! This one is so cool!

We planned to do their session in Baltimore more than a month ago and were praying that the weather forecasters were right when they said no rain until 1pm. Of course, this is Maryland, they were totally wrong. But we got so many good shots of these two total naturals. Matt and Lynn – thanks so much for surviving the humidity, the fog and the rather annoying downpour towards the end there. You two are troopers!! And I seriously can’t wait for your wedding this coming July!!

Kristin & Taylor – Tabrizi’s

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going back to Tabrizi’s for Kristin and Taylor’s wedding!! The day could not have been more perfect. The sun was shining, it was a perfect temperature, their family and friends were all beyond awesome, even passerby’s and locals sat around outside of Tabrizi’s or watched from their balconies as Kristin and Taylor tied the knot. Their love is magnetic and one of a kind. And I was so glad to be there to capture it all.

Kristin and Taylor – it has been a super gross few days here in B-more, so I am really hoping that the weather is amazing in St. Lucia. Thank you for allowing me to document your marriage and making me feel like family immediately. Your wedding was truly special and I know nothing but amazing things are in store for you two!

Alicyn & Mike – Annapolis E Session

Mike needed a realtor to sell his house. Enter Alicyn – realtor extraordinaire. I like to imagine these two somehow forged a relationship and common bond over words like “stainless steel appliances,” “hardwood floors,” “soaking tub”" and “your dream home.” Whatever it was, there was a spark, and seriously, these two are made for each other. Their witty back and forth exchanges, total randomness and ability to laugh about everything is awesome to be a part of. Alicyn was always funny when we went to high school together but she has met her match. Their first date was dinner and then a show at Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis – an awesome venue for those who have never been – so naturally, that is where we started their shoot. I cannot wait to work with these two lovebirds for their wedding.

Love this one so much!!

Couldn’t decide – love them both!!

Dudes. I have been stressed this week. I have been super busy with shoots and catching up on editing that I decided to take two days off from blogging. I hope it helped. But currently as I write this, it really just made me feel bad that I wasn’t blogging. Don’t worry, next week will be awesome with the usual one day off and you will get to see so many pretty pretty people and maybe even a personal post because ya know, I haven’t done that in awhile. So here is to an awesome Friday! The start of my real work week!

I didn’t want to tell anyone (unless you follow me on instagram) last week in case I didn’t finish but I ran another half marathon!!! And finished! And way faster than my last one! I am also doing another stupid thing this weekend – running another half marathon!!! More on both of these things in my person post next week!

A Year Without Internet - I actually thought this article was really great. Super honest. Video even more so.

While I will always miss college and dorm room living with some of my favorite people in this whole world, this is so awesome.

Embarrassing things I have done this week: download the Scott’s Bird ID app on my phone and then sat outside in the morning playing robin’s bird songs and hearing them whistle it back. It was pretty amazing. I thank Janice for teaching me about this.

Theresa & Nick – Vandiver Inn

This weekend was Theresa and Nick’s wedding at the Vandiver Inn in Havre de Grace. Inches from the water, not a cloud in the sky, it was an absolutely perfect day to get married. I am a total sucker for personalized wedding ceremonies so when I walk up to the front porch of the Vandiver Inn and see a guy outside having an adult beverage wearing a shirt that says The Minister, I just knew it was going to be an awesome day and such an awesome ceremony. He told us things they loved about each other – how Theresa is apparently the greatest rapper and knows the word to every song on the radio and how Nick takes the night shift with their dog Teddy and loves him so dearly and then he told us their proposal story. After Theresa went to bed on Christmas eve 2011, Nick stayed up a bit longer and found the perfect spot for a new ornament on the tree. The last present Theresa opened that morning was an empty ornament box. Searching the tree, she found it, “Theresa, will you marry me?” Of course, she said yes which got us to this beautiful day.
